County manager appoints new Animal Services manager

TAVARES — County Manager David Heath has filled a key leadership position within the county government. Cynthia Lynn Nason, who has a robust background as an animal welfare professional, will start Monday, May 13 as the new manager of Lake County Animal Services, which is part of the county’s Conservation & Compliance Department. 

“Cyndi has successfully directed two animal-rescue and shelter operations, with demonstrated experience in increasing adoptions, improving animal care and managing a large number of staff,” Heath said. “We are confident that she will serve as an effective administrator for this important function of our organization.” 

Nason was the Adoption Centers director at the Humane Society of Missouri for eight years, and prior to that role, she was the executive director of the Northeast Missouri Humane Society for three years. For the past two years, she has served as a consultant for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. 

Nason is professionally certified through the American Humane Association and the Florida State Animal Response Coalition. She has served on the leadership committee for the Tampa Bay Area Disaster Animal Response Team, and has volunteered with the Clearwater Chapter of the National Audubon Society.
